Moons of Jupiter Capsule Collection
I created this collection during my semester in Florence Italy in the Fall of 2023. My assignment was to create a collection for our student fashion show prompted by the themes of “down to earth” and “out of this world” each exemplifying terrestrial and extra terrestrial visual ideas respectively. I chose to focus on the latter picking the moons surrounding Jupiter as my muses. Each look is meant to personify a different Jovian celestial body. The gray minty fawn look was created for the Moon Europa known for its icy surface with a sub terranian salt water ocean. The mauve gown with tattered knit blouse is meant to represent Callisto, an ancient moon that is speckled in millions of craters. The last vibrant orange look is paying homage to the volcanic dynamic moon, Io. I was very inspired by all the amazing influences around me at the time. From renaissance Cathedral angels to Milan fashion week I took bits and pieces from everything beautiful I encountered and wove it into my work to create something distinctly my own. All of these ensembles were hand drawn, drafted, draped, sewn, and styled by me along with the help of my teachers.
